Makeena Stephens, Founder & Owner

Makeena Stephens, a native of Portsmouth, VA, founded Cosmetics by Makeena, LLC as a cosmetic manufacturing firm in August 2011. She begun her career in the cosmetic industry as an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc. in January 2000. As her love for the art of color aesthetics and the positive impact it had on her clients' esteem grew, she began a career as a beauty and image consultant at the prestigious Glamour Shots, Inc at Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake, VA.

In addition to her adept skills as a make-up artist, Makeena has a solid foundation in product research and development and quality assurance product testing. She received her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). Formerly, she was a product development chemist in the polyurethane industry. Currently, she is a quality assurance chemist for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Materials Test Laboratory, where her overall duty is to provide mission-critical technical support to the Department of Defense Naval Operations.

Makeena's ultimate goal is to see Cosmetics by Makeena, LLC lead in the national and international markets via research, product development & modification, and manufacturing in skin care, body care, fragrance, and color cosmetics serving the needs of consumers from diverse backgrounds.
